Who is Scotland's best striker of all time?

Boro agree Geremi fee

by Alex Dunn -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Middlesbrough have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Chelsea for the services of Geremi.

However, as revealed by skysports.com on Saturday, the player seems likely to turn down the advances of Boro.

A fee in the region of £3 million has been agreed but Steve McClaren's attempts to lure the Cameroon international to The Riverside appear to be in vain.

Geremi, who enjoyed a successful season-long loan at Boro in the 2002-03 campaign before moving to Chelsea, is thought to be reluctant to move north after settling in West London.

McClaren concedes that his bid is unlikely to prosper but will continue in his attempts to convince Geremi to move back to the North East.

Geremi has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge this season but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the player's versatility and is in no hurry to sell.
