Who is Scotland's best striker of all time?

Spurs reject Davies bid

by Peter ORourke -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Tottenham have rejected a bid from Everton for Simon Davies.

Davies has been a long-term transfer target for Everton boss David Moyes as he is big fan of the Wales international.

Moyes is keen to bolster his midfield having lost Thomas Gravesen to Real Madrid and believes Davies will strengthen their bid to remain in fourth place in The Premiership and secure that coveted final place in the UEFA Champions League.

Davies has struggled with a series of injuries this term, but did start Tottenham's FA Cup clash with West Brom at the weekend.

Spurs have rejected Everton's offer as they are keen to keep the midfielder at White Hart Lane.

Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness admitted Everton had made an approach for Davies although no deal has been agreed.

"We have been in discussions with Tottenham over the weekend but no conclusion has been reached," said Wyness.
