Manchester City are being linked with a shock move for Deportivo La Coruna striker Walter Pandiani.
Reports emanating from Turkey claim that City had lined up a swoop for Pandiani as replacement for Nicolas Anelka.
Fenerbahce revealed that they had lined up a move for Pandiani had they had failed to land Anelka.
The Turks finalised their move for Anelka on Monday and they claim Pandiani also wants to join them ahead of City.
"We've been after him for six months," said Fenerbahce director Mahmut Uslu.
"Pandiani was going to Manchester City if we got Anelka, but he was preferring us.
"As we grow the number of players that want to come to us rise too."
Fiorentina are also believed to be chasing Pandiani whose future at Depor is in doubt after a bust-up with coach Javier Irureta.
One of Pandiani's agents Davide Lippi revealed that there was the possibility of the player moving to Fiorentina.
"The way is still open, the negotiation is going forward," said Lippi.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina have signed Milan youngster Marco Donadel on loan for the rest of the season.
