Who is Scotland's best striker of all time?

Blues sign Pennant

by Alex Livie -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Birmingham have snapped up Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant on loan for the rest of the season.

Blues were tipped to sign the speedy winger earlier in January, but the move was put on ice when Pennant was charged with drink-driving and told to appear in court on February 1.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger left the decision over Pennant solely in the hands of his Birmingham counterpart Steve Bruce and the St Andrews chief has opted to push through the deal.

A statement on Birmingham's website said: "Pennant has joined on loan until the end of the season, subject to personal circumstances."

Pennant is in contention to face Southampton at St Andrews on Wednesday.
