West Brom defender Neil Clement has committed his future to the club by penning a five-and-a-half year contract at The Hawthorns.

The former Chelsea stopper was out of contract at the end of the season, but has decided to remain with The Baggies.

The 26-year-old, who is now committed to the Midlands outfit until the summer of 2010, could have left West Brom this summer for free.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace is delighted one of the club's key players has remained loyal to Bryan Robson's side.

"We're delighted Neil has committed his future to the club," said Peace to the club's official website.

"He has earned this new contract through his excellent performances for the first team, which have impressed the new manager.

"We look forward to more of the same over the next five-and-a-half years."
