Arteta inks Toffees deal

by Francisco Acedo -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Everton have sealed the loan signing of Mikel Arteta until the end of the season.

Arteta has grown increasingly frustrated at a lack of opportunities at Real Sociedad and recently stated his willingness to leave the Basque outfit in his pursuit of first team football

Everton were in the market for a midfielder following the reluctant sale of Thomas Gravesen and have now filled that void with Arteta's signature.

The club's chief executive, Keith Wyness, has stated his delight at sealing a deal before the close of Monday's transfer window.

''We are all delighted that Mikel has agreed to join us and this is a real coup for Everton as a number of clubs were interested.''

It is also reported that Everton will have the option to sign Arteta on a permanent basis for €2 million at the close of the season, should he impress.
