Who is Scotland's best striker of all time?

Stuttgart join Hitz hunt

by Chris Ives -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Stuttgart have become the latest German club to be linked with Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

German media reports claim that negotiations are already underway between the Schwaben and Hitzlsperger's agent with a view to a summer transfer.

The 22-year-old, who joined Villa from Bayern Munich's amateurs, has indicated that he would be happy to move to the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.

"It is my goal to find a club with which I can continue to develop as a player and if Stuttgart can offer me this opportunity then I can imagine moving there," said Hitzlsperger.

"I am not directly involved so I can't say anything yet."

Earlier this week German champions Werder Bremen confirmed that they would be interested in bringing Hitzlsperger to the Weserstadion, although concrete negotiations have yet to take place between the two sides.
