Barnsley v Bradford preview

by Simon Fudge -  created on 31 Jan 2005

Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and Bradford City meet in the Monday evening clash at Oakwell.

The match - live on Sky Sports 1 - sees two sides aiming to close the gap on the play-off places in League One.

Paul Hart's Tykes have not lost a league match since November - with five wins and six draws in their last 11 contests.

Their run, however, still sees them eight points adrift of the play-off places while Colin Todd's Bantams are four points off the top six.

The Valley Parade club travel to Barnsley with just two defeats recorded in their last nine league matches.

The home side are certain to be without defender Tony Vaughan after he was injured in Barnsley's draw at Brentford.

Barry Conlon (groin) and Danny Nardiello (ankle) are still sidelined, while goalkeeper Nick Colgan has joined Scottish Premier League outfit Dundee United on loan.

Bradford have been boosted by the return of midfielder Lewis Emanuel from injury, but Ben Muirhead misses out after picking up five bookings.

Darren Holloway's injury could allow Peter Atherton to start at right back, but midfielder Tom Kearney remains sidelined after undergoing a double hernia operation.
