It's good to see Micky Adams back in football management and I can't see any reason why he shouldn't do a good job at Highfield Road - although I am sure he is under no illusions as to how tough the Coventry job will be.

Since leaving Leicester he has waited and bided his time for a suitable position, but he can't sit outside the game for ever and jobs in the Championship are few and far between.

When Micky left Leicester he wasn't sacked, he left of his own accord, but the job offers haven't been flooding in. Not so long ago I spoke to him about the possibility of taking over at Gillingham, so when the role at Coventry - where he was a player - became available, it seemed like a perfect match.

Micky has experienced things at Leicester that not many managers have been through. And, for the time being, the impression we have of him is the way he handled the La Manga scandal, but time is a great healer and he will be hoping that is all in the past.

It is a stigma that he will be desperate to get rid of and if he does well people will start to judge him on what he does successfully both at Coventry and when he got Leicester promoted.

For this season it is all about surviving. Coventry move into their new stadium at the start of next season and to begin their life there in Coca Cola League One would be unacceptable.

What Micky will not face is the pressure that Peter Reid was under from the word go. When Reid replaced Eric Black at the end of last season, Black hadn't done a lot wrong. Coventry looked like they were moving in the right direction and the crowd were content. I am not making excuses for Reid, but that did make his job harder because it meant he was under pressure from day one.

Peter left because it is a results business and Coventry weren't achieving those, which means Micky starts his reign with a clean slate.

It will be interesting to see if Micky has any money to bring in new signings - particularly any of the players he had at Leicester. Reid didn't have any and I suppose they are hoping that Micky will be able to work his magic because he is a good manager.

Even without new signings Coventry should have a strong enough squad to stay in the division, but that doesn't mean a lot in the Championship: just look at Nottingham Forest, who have four proven goalscorers but are still struggling.

With the exception of Rotherham, all the teams in the division are well matched and, even if Ipswich were travelling to Millmoor, Joe Royle wouldn't think it was a guaranteed three points.

Micky's first decision as Coventry boss was to sit out the QPR game and I think that was very clever. When he became boss on Friday he didn't know the players, he hadn't worked with them and it would have been unfair for him to have picked a team the following day. As Micky wasn't involved, Paul Furlong's last minute winner was Adrian Heath's fault and not his.

And the next fixture, against Newcastle in the FA Cup, is a no lose situation too. Yes, he can make a real name for himself and have an instant impact, but no one will be expecting too much.  That gives him a plenty of time to work with his squad and it doesn't get serious until the Preston match a week on Saturday.

Do you think Ken Bates buying a controlling stake in Leeds signals the end of over two years of rubbish drama at the club, or is it just another episode in a larger story yet to be played out?
Jonathan Blackburn, Toronto, Canada
I think Ken Bates is the best thing that happened to Leeds in a long time. The intentions of someone who wants to take over at a club that has already had all its assets stripped says a lot about his mindset: he wants to be successful. If you are a Leeds fan, you have someone in your club who only cares about turning things around and proving his ability to run a football club and that can only be a good thing.

Hi Chris I'm a lifelong Sheffield Wednesday fan and I can't tell you how delighted I am that we are finally moving in the right direction, this for me is all down to one man and his name is Paul Sturrock he's been an absolute revelation since he joined us and were really in a position where I think we can gain promotion, I  just wondered what your thoughts were on what Paul Sturrock is doing right that so many managers in the past have done wrong ? And whether you rate Steven MacLean as highly as all us Hillsborough regulars do. Can he be the first striker to score 20 goals since.. Mark Bright ? Kevin Trotter
I think you are right, Kevin. MacLean has done ever so well and he is in the mix for player of the month. I saw the Port Vale match and I was really impressed with him. As for Paul Sturrock, he's done brilliantly. Without taking anything away from him, when he took over they had bottomed out and the only way was up, but he still had to do it. He has showed that what he did at Plymouth was no fluke. Wednesday are still heavily in debt, so that doesn't make it easy for Paul, but it must be a delight for both the manager and the players to have 24,000 spectators who don't care how you play as long as you get the result.

I would like to ask your opinions on Blackpool. Colin Hendry hasn't got his managerial career off to the best start, Blackpool are fighting off relegation when in my opinion they have the players to be in a safe mid-table place or maybe the play offs. It just hasn't happened for us this season, Do you see what the problem might be. Nathan Cowburn, Blackpool
I think it is hard for Colin because it is his first job and he has no grounding. He was a great player but he was out of the game for six to eight months before he took the job at Blackpool. Some things in life are more important than football, and that was the case for Colin when he took time out to look after his wife who was ill. But in that time he wasn't watching games or coaching and that might have set him back a bit. It is imperative that Blackpool stay up because once again there is a new stadium on the way and lots of investment in the area and it would be a massive blow if that coincided with relegation.

I would just like to praise Colin Calderwood in turning around Northampton's fortunes. He has made some excellent signings and most of them have all been free transfers especially the latest coup in Trevor Benjamin. I was wondering what your thoughts are for the present and future of Northampton as you are good friends with Colin. Neil Edmunds, Cirencester
Northampton will get promoted this year. Their form recently has been good and they got themselves fourth before they let things slip. The top three have a six point gap, but Northampton were in a worse position last season and they got to the play-offs so there is still a lot to play for.
