 | | Corning Cable Systems to Feature FTTH Model at 2004 OSP Expo Hickory, North Carolina, November 10, 2004 - Corning Cable Systems will highlight its innovative fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions in a unique model deployment within its exhibit (booth #420) at the 2004 OSP Expo, Nov. 16-18 in Atlanta, Ga. In this interactive exhibit, many of Corning’s FTTH technologies and services will be displayed in a representation of an access network – from the local convergence point to the customer premises. Corning, a world-leading supplier of optical fiber, cable, hardware and equipment, will showcase its Evolant™ Solutions for Access Networks. In particular, products from the Corning Cable Systems Access Advantage Solution, part of the Evolant Solutions portfolio, will be “deployed.” Customers will be able to see exactly where the Corning products fit into their network, and how the Advantage Solution makes deploying FTTH networks faster, easier and more cost-effective. “The Advantage Solution gives our customers an additional choice regarding cabinets, terminals, drop cable assemblies and network interface devices,” said Dr. Bernhard Deutsch, director of market development at Corning Cable Systems. “The cost reductions derived from this new solution are unmatched in the industry.” Through its Evolant™ Solutions for Access Networks, Corning Cable Systems offers specialized portfolios of innovative products and services that enable customers to cost-effectively deploy fiber in the last mile. In addition to its Access Classic Solution, the Access Advantage Solution was designed to increase the ease of installation and speed of adding subscribers from the local convergence point to the customer premises. Additional featured products in the Corning booth include: · The OptiTect™ Advantage Cabinet (Medium) – With factory preconnectorization and installation of distribution and feeder cable “stubs,” the cabinet provides everything necessary to service up to 288 subscribers. · The OptiSheath™ Advantage Terminals – Providing environmental protection and quick incremental connection of subscribers’ drop cable, these aerial, below-grad and multiport terminals allow additional subscribers to be connected without re-entering the terminal. · The OptiWay™ Advantage Network Interface Device – This all-plastic enclosure is specifically designed to house electronic circuits for FTTH and broadband access markets with preconnectorized subscriber drop cables.
