First, it seems that these activities are more popular with young people than city officials. Second, traditional skate parks are expensive to construct and continual maintenance makes them even less attractive. The average skate park costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to construct and invites significant annual maintenance expenses. From the users' perspective, a traditional outdoor skate park leaves very few options on rainy days and in the off-season. Not to mention the current population trend away from urban centers and toward suburbs, which can be better served by a more geographically flexible skate park.  | The revolutionary SunRamp shapes were developed cooperatively with input from park and recreation specialists, scientists at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Natural Resources Research Institute, and some of the best 'boarders, bikers, and 'bladers around the globe. SunRamp spent three years in research and development to create the original molded wood ramps. | | | | | | | SunRamps are lightweight to create a portable alternative to the off-season and rainy days associated with traditional skate parks.
