These executive appointments are aimed at enhancing and maintaining BEA’s leadership position in technology innovation and furthering its go-to-market strategy. They follow on earlier announcements of the newly created worldwide field organization led by president Tom Ashburn and the appointments of industry veterans Wai Wong as executive vice president of products, Marge Breya as senior vice president and chief marketing officer and Dick O’Donnell as vice president of corporate marketing. de la Lama joins BEA from Borland where he held a variety of engineering development and executive management positions, most recently as vice president and general manager of the Together business unit with responsibility for product management, product marketing, business development and engineering resources. He was instrumental in developing the award-winning Together ControlCenter product line. Prior to that position, de la Lama was vice president and general manager of the Java Business Unit where he was instrumental in transforming the JBuilder product line into the market- leading J2EE development platform A 17-year industry veteran, Roth most recently worked at CRM software provider, Epiphany as chief technology evangelist. Prior to Epiphany, Roth held several key marketing positions at Sun Microsystems where he was responsible for product marketing and product management for J2EE and for SunONE developer marketing. Roth was also instrumental in the launch and community building for OpenOffice.org. Cremona joins BEA from Sun Microsystems where she was most recently responsible for market intelligence and field marketing operations and for developing and driving the overall Sun Sigma quality strategy and project execution in worldwide marketing. Cremona has achieved the highest level--Master Black Belt--in Six Sigma, a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for analyzing and improving business processes.
