Breeder's Choice Pet Foods, Inc. has been manufacturing pet food for over 50 years. In 1947, Harold Taylor started Breeder's Choice in Southern California. Although we've expanded and improved our facility in many ways, we still remember our beginnings. Mr. Taylor was a typical American entrepreneur who saw a way to meet the needs of consumers by combining his business expertise with his love of animals. The spirit upon which he built his company has been passed down to his children Rick and Jeff Taylor, and grandchildren. Today, a third generation of Taylors is working to take Breeder's Choice into the next century. In the early days, Breeder's Choice sold horsemeat to kennels and professional Breeder's. Little by little, our product line was increased to include several varieties of raw meats and specialty diets for zoo animals. We made a name for ourselves with our frozen pet meals.

In 1960, we developed our first oven-baked kibble and biscuits. Even then, we exceeded the minimum nutritional requirements to create the most nutritious products available. We added a bakery to our Irwindale facility a short time later. Today, we bake delicious, all-natural pet foods and treats around the clock. Hard work and excellent products let Breeder's Choice enjoy steady growth over the years, but it was an avocado that made our company famous!

In 1982, we introduced AvoDerm, a special dog food designed to provide nutrition while curing skin and coat problems. Thanks to a comprehensive marketing campaign, AvoDerm was considered almost a "miracle". It's one of the best selling products in the industry because it really works! We market AvoDerm aggressively with publicity and advertising on T.V., radio, billboards and in magazines and newspapers.

In 1992, we expanded the line. The AvoDerm family of products now includes dog food, cat food, treats and grooming aids. As a result of the success of AvoDerm, coupled with the consumer demand for an extruded specialty line, Breeder's Choice introduced Advanced Pet Diets in 1992. Formulated through state-of-the-art technology, Advanced Pet Diets digestibility and performance levels are advanced beyond "general nutrition."

In 2003, we are currently reintroducing the Advanced Pet Diets Select Choice product line. We are extending this valuable line and creating bold and colorful new packaging to update our look and attract new customers. Our independent retailers strongly support this brand and we work hard to offer our customers a superior brand.

In April of 1998, Breeder's Choice introduced Pinnacle - Superior Pet Nutrition. Pinnacle was developed to be the first dry dog food that combines the wholesome blend of chicken and oats. This product is not only unique to other canine formulas, but is also packaged in a oxygen barrier bag. This means that the day you open a bag of Pinnacle is the second day of its shelf life. Pinnacle was designed with beautiful graphics to attract the eyes of many curious customers. Breeder's Choice is one of the first pet food companies to introduce such a superior canine product. Pinnacle Feline was soon added to the product line during the summer of 1999. We currently just introduced a new dry dog food to Pinnacle. Pinnacle Trout and Sweet Potato is an allergy-free alternative for dogs.

Next, came the introduction of Active Care. This is a product line which caters to our canine friends who often experience painful or achy hips and joints.
