Product development and testing of our diets started in 1989 and quickly led to the launch of the Medi-Cal® brand in October 1990. At that time there was a growing interest among the veterinary community in the irreplaceable bond between pets and their owners. Pets were becoming an important part of family life and people were looking to their pets for emotional support. It was the connection between this developing bond and the belief of the founders, Drs Jim Patterson, John Hilton, Don McKeown and Brent Matthew, that nutrition was playing an increasingly important role in the length and quality of pets? lives that lead to the creation of Medi-Cal®. With their unique blend of ingredients, exceptional quality and consistency, and excellent palatability, Medi-Cal® diets have been well accepted by veterinarians, their clients and pets.

Medi-Cal® diets are available exclusively from veterinary hospitals, as it is our genuine belief that veterinarians and veterinary hospital staff are uniquely positioned as the best source of nutritional information for pet owners.

Currently, there are 9 different diets in either canine or feline formulas from which to select individual pets' nutritional regime. Each diet is available in canned and/or dry formats. As well, our Medi-Cal® dog and cat treats will thrill both you and your pet with their combination of healthy ingredients and exceptional palatability.
