Why does it seem like I have already voted (even though I haven't)?

Our polling system allows one vote per IP address for each poll. If you are seeing the poll results and not the option to vote, it is because our polling system has recognized your current IP as having already voted for the current poll. (see IP Address information)

Some examples how this could happen without voting yourself:

• you are inside a firewall that displays the same IP for all computers within it, and someone else within the firewall has already voted (see Firewall information)
  
  
• someone else has already voted from that computer
  
  
• the IP that your computer is currently using was assigned to another computer that has already voted in the poll (see DHCP information)
  
  
• last night you were abducted by aliens and forced to vote already - but can't remember because of their super-duper memory eraser (see Preventing Alien Abductions)
