Doug Lange

Doug Lange is the Program Director at KPUG, Co-Host of THE ZONE and the Cascade Radio Group Sports Director.  He's worked in radio for 12 years including stints with Bellingham stations KBFW & KUGS and has been with CRG since 1996.  Doug won the Associated Press Sports Broadcaster of the Year award for the state of Washington in 1996, '97, '98 & '99.  He was the "mean but funny one" on our sister station 92.9 KISM's morning show "Dave, Deb and Doug" from 1998 to 2000. This Western Washington University, University of Puget Sound and Edmonds High School alum is the play-by-play voice of WWU football and basketball.  During his career, he's also done play-by-play for high school football, basketball, baseball and Bellingham Ice Hawks junior league hockey.  When not working (approximately 7 1/4 hours weekly) Doug loses money in fantasy football and plays utility infield/outfield for the KPUG/Prudential Kelstrup All Stars.  Favorite athlete: Ricky Henderson; Favorite team(s): Raiders, A's & Sonics; Favorite band(s): Stone Temple Pilots, Judas Priest & The Pez Boys (that's his old fraternity band...he played the bass and it never helped him get laid) Favorite movie: Cooley High.  Other things Doug cannot live without...Coca-Cola, Taco Time, "Newsradio" & "Sportsnight" re-runs, beef jerkey, Elvis movies (especially "Blue  Hawaii"), Sports Illustrated & GQ magazines and Kelly Ripa...and Kerri Russell.... and Cameron Diaz.....and Amanda Peete..... and Elaine from "Seinfeld".....and Halle Berry....and Jennifer Connelly.....and......(TIMES UP!)

Mark Scholten

Mark Scholten is in his 11th year with the Cascade Radio Group. He serves as Morning Sports Anchor for KPUG and our sister station 790 KGMI and as Co-Host of  THE ZONE on KPUG.  Mark is a graduate of Bellingham High School (Red Raiders...we know) and Western Washington University.  He handled baseball play-by-play for 3 years for the Class A Bellingham Mariners and Giants. For the past 8 years he's also done play-by-play for high school basketball and football and is the sideline reporter and Pre-Game Host for Western Washington University football. Mark's interview highlights include 80's rocker Don Dokken, MaryAnne from Gilligan's Island and MLB pitcher/author Jim Bouton.  Hobbies include Brady Bunch trivia and rag-arm softball pitching for the KPUG/Prudential Kelstrup All Stars. Pizza, Heffe Weizen, Cheers on the tube, Bon Jovi on the radio and Sue Bird wearing nothing but a smile...you've just described Mark's dream night.

Dick Stark

Dick Stark is a Bellingham native and graduated from Bellingham High School.  As a student at the University of Washington, he did play-by-play of Husky football and basketball games on the campus radio station KUOW.  Dick also played JV Basketball.  After 2 years in the U.S. Army, Dick returned to Bellingham and graduated from Western Washington University.  He started radio work in the area with KENY as a DJ then went into sales and play-by-play sports.  He was hired by KPUG and KAFE a year later and has remained with them ever since.  Dick did play-by-play of Western Basketball for many years before stepping away last season.  He's worked National Collegiate Basketball Tournaments on the East and West Coasts and has worked State Basketball Tourneys in all classifications.  Dick?s awards include induction in the Washington State Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Dave Duvall Award presented by the Northwest District Athletic Directors.  He also has broadcast rights to the 2A State Tournament Network.  He continues to broadcast High School games and handle radio advertising for KPUG and KAFE.

John Carty
John comes to us from Anchorage where he served as Technical Manager for the Alaska Public Radio Network.  He also maintained a side job as Afternoon D.J. for the local jazz station even though he knows nothing about jazz music and never actually listened to the station.  This is his second go-around in Bellingham.  John  worked for CRG from 1999-2001 starting as Evening D.J. at KAFE, then as Production Director for the station group and News Announcer for KGMI.   Now he's back in Whatcom County working with Doug and Mark as Producer for THE ZONE and as Afternoon Sports Announcer.  He's also the voice of "The Big Blue Report" and the "Weekly Pigskin Preview".  Places you might run into John include the Silver Reef Casino hosting Monday Night Football, the Boundary Bay Brewery devouring fish tacos and Gold's Gym in the mornings working them off.

Stephanie is another new face to the KPUG staff. Holding her own as the only female on staff, Stephanie is making her mark as the KPUG Promotions Director. Recently, Stephanie graduated from Western Washington University where she was actively involved with the campus radio station KUGS. With a love for 80's music and The Mariners, you can catch Stephanie at every Monday Night Football event or hanging out in the dark and smokey room that is the Ranch Room.

Brandon is the newest member of the KPUG staff, joining the ranks in July 2004. He is a board operator, web designer and intern at the station. He is also founder and director of BaseballOutsider.com, where he produces the weekly "Outsider Radio" program.

Tavis Buchan

Tavis has been working for the Cascade Radio Group for over 4 years.  He was originally brought on board as an intern with our sister station KISM and turned that into a Morning Show Producer's job with "Dave, Deb & Doug" and "Rockfish and Cash".  Tavis is a board-operator and ZONE road producer for KPUG.  You can hear this local Lynden High School product on the air on KISM on weekends.  His turn-ons include...long walks, hard boiled eggs, Airline food, butt-thumpin' beats and Maxim Magazine cover models. His turn-offs...mean people, haircuts, fake breasts (he's a naturalist) and any movie with the words "Ya, Ya" in the title. Look for Tavis at a comedy club near you soon.
