Who are We?
GE - Transportation, one of the major businesses of General Electric Company, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electric drive systems for Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) used in surface mining. Today, these GE systems provide propulsion for off-highway vehicles rated at 120 to 360 tons payload in over 35 countries around the world.
GE introduced the industry?s first DC electric drive system for an 85 ton truck in 1963 and expanded the product line to 170 ton in 1970, 190 ton and 240 ton in the early 1980's. In 1996, GE led the industry by introducing the first AC drive system, GE320AC, for the highest payload class at the time and has focused since then on developing a full portfolio of AC drive systems. The GE150AC drive system for 150 ton class was introduced in 2000. The GE240AC drive system for the 240 ton class was developed in 2002. GE also recently introduced a 3500 hp AC drive system for the 320 ton class and developed a 360 ton AC drive system in 2003, clearly demonstrating GE's ongoing commitment to deliver lowest cost per ton solutions to the mining industry.
GE's product support comprises of supply of genuine quality replacement parts and to a wide range of service and support options. GE offers full service arrangements for drive systems that are tailored to the unique needs of the customer. These service options can include a GE managed inventory, reducing the customers? working capital, GE managed repair and overhaul work based on the users' specific applications and needs, simplified cost planning and other options. Existing full service programs have resulted in record drive system availability and vastly improved operating costs.Where Are We?
