January 2007: Reinforcing commitment to finding alternatives to animal testing

Europe president Kees van der Graaf addressed delegates at the second 'Europe Goes Alternative' event in December.

European conference to discuss current status & next steps

Europe president Kees van der Graaf addressed delegates at the second 'Europe Goes Alternative' event in December.

The European Partnership on Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA), of which we are one of eight founding industry partners, showcased the results of its first year in action at the conference in Brussels.

"The EPAA is a remarkable vehicle for change, but collaboration between all interested parties - NGOs, politicians, academics and industry - is the only way to facilitate more rapid change," said Kees at the event

A joint initiative from the European Commission and private sector businesses, the EPAA now has 27 partner companies. Its mission is to promote the Three Rs: Reduction, Refinement and Replacement of animal testing.

We are currently spending close to three million euros per year developing new approaches to assure consumer safety without testing on animals.

We will only conduct animal testing if it is absolutely necessary to meet health, safety and/or environmental obligations, or if it is demanded by regulations.
