DG Concerts & NY Philharmonic Ringtones
The New York Philharmonic and Deutsche Grammophon’s DG Concerts are offering ringtones from live 2005–06 season concerts by the New York Philharmonic. Direct from Avery Fisher Hall to your mobile phone, the ringtones are audio clips of the orchestra’s actual performances rather than
electronic imitations of the works. The first tones, available immediately, have been selected from pieces by Brahms, Dvorák and Mozart, and new ringtones will be added throughout the season.
The ringtone project is an extension of an existing agreement between the New York Philharmonic and Deutsche Grammophon’s DG Concerts to offer four Philharmonic concerts per year as downloads exclusively on iTunes, in addition to one CD.
“We are pleased that our relationship with Deutsche Grammophon continues to produce new, innovative ways for our audiences to have the music of the Philharmonic with them wherever they go,” said Zarin Mehta, New York Philharmonic President and Executive Director. “Our partnership with DG is all about extending our reach beyond the walls of the concert hall, and this latest project represents yet another exciting step in that direction.”
“We are excited to add the New York Philharmonic's Deutsche Grammophon DG Concerts recordings to our catalog of mobile offerings,” said Chris Roberts, President of Universal Music Classics Group. “The partnership between Deutsche Grammophon and the New York Philharmonic
illustrates how two of the landmark brands and traditions in classical music embrace new technologies for reaching today's audiences both within and beyond the bounds of traditional listening environments.”
The first ringtones have been selected from the following:
Brahms: Variations on a Theme by Haydn (St. Anthony Choir; recorded March 2006, Lorin Maazel conducting)
Dvorák: Symphony No. 7 (Scherzo; recorded March 2006, Lorin Maazel conducting)
Mozart: Symphony No. 39 (Finale; recorded February 2006, Lorin Maazel conducting)
Mozart: Symphony No. 40 (Molto allegro; recorded February 2006, Lorin Maazel conducting)
Mozart: Symphony No. 41 (Allegro vivace; recorded February 2006, Lorin Maazel conducting)
