Eliminating lymphatic filariasis
We are an active partner in one of the world's biggest and boldest public health initiatives - the international, multi-agency effort to rid the world of the disfiguring and disabling tropical disease lymphatic fliariasis (LF) by 2020.
African Malaria partnership
The AMP was established the GlaxoSmithKline African Malaria partnership (AMP) in 2001 to support effective community-focused responses to improve the prevention and treatment of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa.
Personal hygiene and sanitation education (PHASE)
Established in 1988, PHASE is a low-cost education programme helping to reduce diarrhoea-related disease by encouraging school children to wash their hands. Operates in six countries - Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nicaragua and Peru.
Positive Action Programme
Positive Action was established as an early recognition of the pivotal role played by communities in responding to the world's HIV and AIDS epidemics. It has supported projects that streng -then these communities' responses and encouraged greater involvement of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Change in Advance - Slovakia
This is a three-year community partnership programme to tackle the alarming rise of obesity and cholesterol levels in Slovakian teenagers through the promotion of exercise and healthy eating.
Healthcare in children?s shelters in Spain
This programme aims to improve the health of children who are abandoned or deprived of a family environment. For many of these children even mild diseases can become a serious problem.
Multi-Coloured Lives in Russia
This community-based programme aims to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities, through their integration into mainstream activities and the reduction of babies with disabilities being placed into institutions.
Rural Nursing Excellence programme in Thailand
March 2001 saw the first graduates of GSK's Rural Nursing Excellence programme, which sponsors female high school students from rural areas to take nursing degrees. GSK has donated £500,000 over five years to train 200 nurses.
HIV/AIDS care and prevention in China
Working in collaboration with the Australian Red Cross, this programme focuses on peer education workshops for young people, including drug users in custody, self care workshops for people living with HIV/AIDS and the broader community.
