A teaching programme on a global scale Improving road safety means getting all key road safety players involved. As a vehicle manufacturer, Renault has constantly striven to make its cars safer for more than 30 years now. Even the most advanced technology could never completely offset human error, which is the cause of 80% of all road accidents. In other words, the best safety device is a responsible driver. Since its launch in 2000, the international "Safety for all" programme has pursued a simple objective: to make young people aware of the basic principles of road safety through education, and teach them road-safety reflexes from an early age. It is the biggest operation of its kind by an automaker in the world, with 22 countries and 8 million young people taking part. Safety is a right for everyone The "Safety for All" campaign met with immediate success when it was launched in 2000. Devised over the long term, it targets three main age groups: - primary school pupils - teenagers at high school - young drivers Renault has understood that we have to start educating people from a very early age ? when they are most receptive and can still change behavioural patterns. A fun and interactive educational approach Whether dealing with children or young adults in the programme, the approach remains the same – educational, fun and interactive, addressing them as responsible people so they can look out for their own safety as well as that of others. "Safety for All" has been devised alongside teachers, road safety specialists and major road safety organizations in different countries. |
