Dole Food Company's 5 A Day Program Dole Food Company?s 5 A Day Program was founded in 1991. This program is recognized in the U.S. and throughout the world as a leader in children?s nutrition education and the 5 A Day for Better Health Program. The Dole 5 A Day Program is funded by contributions from various Dole Food Company marketing and sales divisions. Program staff members focus their efforts on five major areas: - Developing nutrition education programs to encourage elementary school children to eat 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day to promote better health.
- Working with supermarkets to educate consumers and school children about 5 A Day.
- Presenting information at national conferences that encourages nutrition, education, school food service and marketing professionals to make the promotion of fruits, vegetables and 5 A Day a high priority to help improve our nation?s health.
- Conducting media relations programs and events that provide information on children?s nutrition issues as they relate to fruit and vegetable consumption.
- Advocating for national, state and local nutrition policy, specifically related to issues that affect the promotion and consumption of fruits and vegetables in the school environment.
