Commodity Trading And Milling - About Us

Seaboard's Commodity Trading and Milling Division consists of a series of vertically integrated grain processing and grain trading companies. Milling facilities are located throughout South America, the Caribbean and Africa and work directly with several commodity trading offices in strategic locations. This synergy specifically positions Seaboard's Commodity Trading and Milling Division with certain competitive advantages. In addition, with company owned and chartered vessels and a network of selected suppliers in the U.S., Argentina and Europe, we can provide grains and oilseeds to third party flour and feed manufacturers with consistent high quality raw materials and a reliable delivery service.

Primary commodities sourced and traded include wheat, corn, soybeans, mill feed, soybean meal and other protein meals. In 2005, sales through consolidated entities were $836 million including approximately 2.5 million tons of grain trade volume.

Seaboard Milling Facilities include the following:

Seaboard is uniquely qualified to assess and select the best quality and most consistent grain and protein meal suppliers worldwide. This is accomplished as part of raw material procurement to our own facilities and the qualitative analysis throughout the milling process. Our own bulk freight and chartered vessel fleets result in superior overall logistics control over the delivery of commodities to in-house and to third party customers.
