Seaboard's Foods Division is one of the largest vertically integrated pork processors in the United States. Seaboard ensures high-quality meat products through dedication to research and development in genetics, nutrition and meat quality.
Seaboard Foods produces and sells fresh, frozen and processed pork products to further processors, foodservice outlets, grocery stores, retail outlets, and other distributors in the United States, Japan and other foreign markets.
The processing facility in Guymon, Oklahoma, started in 1995 and has a double shift capacity to process approximately 16,000 hogs daily. The facility normally operates at capacity with additional weekend shifts to meet increased demand. Seaboard's production facilities consist of genetic and commercial breeding, farrowing, nursery and finishing buildings located in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Colorado with a capacity to produce more than 3.5 million market hogs annually. Seaboard owns and operates six centrally located mills that produce formulated feed.
Seaboard Foods Division owns two bacon processing plants located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Missoula, Montana. These plants produce premium sliced and pre-cooked bacon primarily for food service. This acquisition in 2005 continues Seaboard's expansion into value-added products and is expected to enhance our ability to venture into additional products.
In early 2004, Seaboard entered into a marketing agreement with Triumph Foods LLC (Triumph) to market all of the pork products produced at Triumph's plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. The plant began operations in January 2006 and is expected to significantly enhance Seaboard Foods' market presence domestically and internationally.
Seaboard's vertically integrated approach presents a number of strategic advantages relative to other companies in the industry. These advantages stem from significant production and processing chain controls. The outcome is exceptionally consistent, high-quality, safe products. This consistency has made Seaboard an international industry leader in pork products.
