IP Co-Processors

As the demand for Internet bandwidth continues to grow and user requirements become more sophisticated, the capacity of switches and routers at all network levels must increase while being able to handle an increasing variety of traffic types. Key to a network node’s performance is its ability to perform searches that allow aggregation of bandwidth at a lower cost, to support network convergence (triple play), and to meet other service infrastructure requirements such as service-level agreements (SLAs), utility quality billing, and traffic engineering—all while having the flexibility to support IPv6 and IPv4 environments simultaneously and in a cost-effective manner. By accelerating the processing of complex and compute intensive tasks for Layer 2-4 applications, such as IP forwarding, policy-based networking, access control, multimedia transport and virtual private networks (VPNs), IDT IP co-processors provide extra headroom in the main packet processor, enabling it to focus on higher-level functions that differentiate your product and increase return on investment.
