Advanced technology, functionality, simplicity, user-friendliness, interactivity: these are the essential qualities that DEKA offers, leaving nothing to chance. The exclusive, modern and ergonomic design also plays a key role in creating an intelligent and harmonic doctor-instrument interaction.
Deka was founded in Florence in 1981 and began its business with the development of electronic subsystems for the application of laser technologies. In 1983, the first _CO2 lasers_ [link a www.elengroup.com] were launched on the market, followed by the Nd:YAG, Pulsed DYE, excimer lasers, Er:YAG, etc.
During its over twenty years of intense production and research since then, the company has created a wide range of high-tech medical laser devices and achieved a leading position on the world scene. DEKA currently covers all fields of medical laser applications with last generation products.
In 1996, the company obtained the EN ISO-9002, while in 1999 it obtained the EN ISO-9001 and EN-46001 quality assurance system certifications.
Today, DEKA is a certified company according to EN ISO-9001 and EN ISO-13485.
Laser Applications for the medical field
Since their first appearance, lasers have found numerous applications in the field of medicine. The first medical applications of lasers date back to 1962, when a ruby laser was used for reattachment of the retina in the eye. It was the invention of the CO2 laser in 1967 with its high absorption by water that opened up the vast field of surgical applications.
Medical laser applications are based primarily on the properties of energy absorption and tissue interaction. After 1974, the availability of optic fibers permitted combination of laser technology with endoscopy. The high absorption rate in water, hemoglobin, and melanine guarantees efficient clinical applicatios with optimal medical results.
Today, development of new technologies and the increasing understanding of the utilization of that technology by the medical community have brought a continuous increase of laser use in a wide range of medical applications.
