SC Johnson Ranks Seventh on FORTUNE?s 2007 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For
Company?s Third Consecutive Time Making Top 10 and Seventh Appearance on the List

Racine, Wis. (January 8, 2007) ?  SC Johnson is pleased to announce the company once again ranks in the top 10 of the ?100 Best Places to Work For? in America, according to FORTUNE magazine.  This is the company?s third appearance in the top 10 of the FORTUNE list, its second time ranking number seven and seventh appearance on the list.

FORTUNE specifically cited SC Johnson as a leader in offering employee benefits such as subsidizing hotel stays for employees who live 25 miles or more from work and offers discounts at its newly expanded child-care center for families making under $60,000 a year.  The magazine also recognized the company?s low turn over rate.

?As a family company, SC Johnson advocates a culture of mutual respect, fairness, and inclusion,? says SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson. ?These central values are so critical in developing a workplace that sets the standard for integrity. Being the best place for the best people is one of the top priorities for us not only today but for the next generation.  This recognition is based in large part on the opinions of SC Johnson people and knowing that those working at the company truly feel that it is a great place to work is inspiring.?

The company is known for infusing a ?great place to work? culture and has long been recognized as an employer of choice.  In 2006, the company made its 18th appearance on and ranked for the fourth consecutive year in the top 10 among the ?100 Best Companies for Working Mothers,? according to Working Mother magazine; was named to the ?Corporate 100? list of top companies for Latinos by Hispanic magazine, was among DiversityInc?s list of top 50 companies for diversity and was named by AARP Magazine as a top place to work for people over 50.

The list of top-rated companies appears in the January 22, 2007 issue, available on newsstands on January 15 and at www.fortune.com this week.  FORTUNE and the Great Place to Work® Institute compile their 100 Best list based on an extensive questionnaire, an employee survey and a written portion including stories from employees explaining what makes their company a best place to work.  The Great Place to Work® Institute surveyed employees from more than 350 candidate companies.

FORTUNE also calls out that SC Johnson?s pay and benefits are exemplary. Other benefits include on-site childcare and an on-site fitness center with a pool.

Much has changed in the American workplace over the past decade.  Back then 18 companies on FORTUNE?s list offered telecommuting; today 82 do.  Only 28 companies on the list offered domestic partner benefits; now that number is 70. Competition to get on the list has intensified too:  This year 446 companies vied for a slot, up from 161 in 1998.  And, 100,000 workers evaluated their employers, making this by far the largest simultaneous employee survey in corporate America.

"The 100 Best Companies to Work For" list is compiled for FORTUNE by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco, based on two criteria: an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company, and the opinions of the company's employees. The latter is given more weight; two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a 57-question survey which goes to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees from each company. More than 100,000 employees from 446 companies participated in the survey this year. It asks about things such as attitudes towards management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie within the organization. The remaining one-third of the score is based on an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, pay and benefits programs, and culture.  Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy, celebrations).

SC Johnson is a family-owned and -managed business dedicated to innovative, high-quality products, excellence in the workplace and a long-term commitment to the environment and the communities in which it operates.
