Any dark, warm and moist environment, such as your bathroom, is a prime area for mold to grow. Mold is a fungus that can be identified by color-shades of pink, brown or black, spotting the surface. Mold that grows in the bathroom area is generally referred to as mildew. Large amounts of mildew create a musty, sour odor. It is usually found under sinks, around window frames and sills and where tubs and showers meet the floor.
Prevent It There are several steps you can take to prevent mold and mildew growth. Decrease the humidity in the air by turning on the fan when you shower, and leave the bathroom lights on before, during and after the bath or shower. Wipe down all moist areas, and hang up all towels and clothing to dry. Also remember to clean frequently using a specially formulated antibacterial cleaner that combats mildew, such as the Scrubbing Bubbles® Aerosol Bathroom Cleaner.
Cleaning Tip To eliminate mildew stains from the corners of the tub, dip cotton balls in the specially formulated mildew stain cleaner and stuff them in the hard-to-reach corners. When you finish cleaning the bath, remove the cotton balls and rinse the area well.

If you notice white and brown spots around your bathtub, sink or bathroom fixtures, it's likely that you have hard water. Hard water contains high concentrations of dissolved minerals that can cause deposits to form. These deposits are generally called limescale. Limescale stains will attract more soap scum, dirt, mold and mildew and are difficult to remove. It is best to clean stains away regularly: if they are allowed to sit for long periods of time, they may become permanent.
Cleaning Tip Calcium and magnesium in hard water make cleaning products less effective. To help remove limescale deposits, try specially formulated cleaners that are acid based, such as the Scrubbing Bubbles® Soap Scum Remover.
Toilet Bowl Tip: When cleaning the toilet, don't forget to clean thoroughly under the rim. Scrubbing Bubbles® Fresh Brush™ has a curved handle that makes accessing hard-to-reach areas - such as under the rim - easier.

Soap scum is a white, waxy buildup that forms on your tiles, shower doors and around your tub. It is a combination of soap, body oils and bacteria that build up in any shower over time. If you allow it to stay on your walls for too long, this will encourage the growth of mold and mildew and cleaning it can become more of a challenge.
Cleaning Tip Soap scum cannot be removed simply by rinsing your bathtub so you should use a specially formulated cleaner, such as the Scrubbing Bubbles® Soap Scum Remover with Orange Action®, on a regular weekly basis.
