Mepps Black Fury plain treble hook spinners

The Black Fury with a plain treble hook is one of the great all-time Mepps spinners. The special Black Fury blade spins closer to the body than the classic Aglia blade so it easily fishes shallow to mid-depths.

All Mepps Black Furys are excellent low light (early morning, evening or overcast) spinners as well as a perfect choice for sunny days when contrast with the brightness of the water, weeds and structure is needed. Whether you select a plain or dress Black Fury is strictly personal preference. Most panfish and bass fishermen prefer dressed spinners, while most trout and salmon fishermen prefer plain treble hook Black Furys. Either is very effective at catching a wide variety of freshwater game fish.

    Reviewer: Frank Potts (Maun, Botswana)

The Black and Yellow Black Fury (#3 and #4) is a superb product and works extremely well under most weather and seasonal conditions for catching Nembwe bream (Serranochromis robustus) in the Okavango River, Botswana. It has been tried and tested and is the first choice out of the tackle box for most experienced big game fish anglers in this part of the world.
Reviewer: Dennis Lendrem (Fishers of Rothbury, England)

The black and yellow has long been a favorite with UK fishers in pursuit of large wild brown trout. Increasingly though the Black Fury has been used as a sea trout and salmon lure. I strongly recommend the black and fluorescent red dot combination - it performs well in both low and high water conditions and is especially useful in highly coloured water. In the UK sizes 2 and 3 are most popular with the 4 reserved for faster waters. The 0 and 1 are used principally used as surface lures with the rod held high the lure is allowed to swing around in the current.
