 | Got smarter, easier, faster ways of feeding your active family nutritious meals? Whether you've developed a streamlined system for getting a family meal on the table, discovered a kid-friendly tip for serving broccoli, or invented an amazingly healthy eat-on-the-run snack - we want to know about it. ravioli Alfredo During a dinner rush for a fast meal I really didn't have much in the house. So I had frozen ravioli, frozen garlic bread and a jar of alfredo sauce. I boiled water and let the raviolis simmer for a few minutes, heated up the sauce, baked up the garlic bread while waiting for the water to boil. We had a bag of salad and so I made small salads adding a little onion, grated cheese and dressing. Put 6 raviolis on each plate and drizzled alfredo sauce generously to cover then sprinkled parsley on top. Added the hot garlic bread on the side and dinner was ready in 20 minutes! My family loved the alfredo instead of the tomato for a change. 4:53 PM, March 1, 2007 GROUND BEEF ALWAYS ON HAND I always stock up on ground beef when on sale in the store. (This usually means purchasing a family pack). As soon as I get home I divide the beef in half. One half I then freeze in 1lb portions. The other half I immediately brown. Then I freeze the browned meat in portions for convenient, fast meals. Tacos, sloppy joes, lasagna, etc...never take too long. 8:33 PM, February 28, 2007 When in doubt, add wine It's probably my European background, but I find that wine with a meal - and in a meal - makes everything tastier. By the time the baby is in bed, our dinner has often gotten cold waiting on the stove. A splash of wine in the pot and in the pan, a quick stir over a high flame, and we're ready to sit down together (however briefly before we fall asleep) and enjoy our meal with a glass of wine. Bon apetit! 8:47 PM, February 27, 2007 Meatball subs I wish I could take credit for the recipe but it was given to me by a friends husband. We take frozen meatballs, place in a crock pot, pour a jar of Ragu over the top and turn on low. In about 3 hours you have meatballs ready for meatball subs. Place on either a sub roll or on a hotdog bun and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and you have supper in a flash. 9:05 PM, February 19, 2007 | | | Page 1 of 3 | | | | |
