The two-year-old campaign to get a U.S. postage stamp issued in honor of musical legend Roy Orbison made great strides recently as the estate?s petition of names reached the 20,000 mark. The estate is submitting the petition to the post office this week. Orbison, who died in 1988, is under consideration for a commemorative stamp in 2008. A varied list of supporters have signed the petition, including Bono, Olivia Harrison (widow of George Harrison), Pete Fountain, George Clinton, Dan Aykroyd, George Jones, Loretta Lynn and thousands of fans from all walks of life.
