Barbara would love to personally congratulate some of this year?s outstanding recipients of CMA Awards that were held on Monday, November 6th, in Nashville, TN. Congratulations to Harold Bradley and Sonny James for being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Harold, as you know, was at every Roy Orbison session from ?Only the Lonely? through all of the MGM masters recordings. Sonny recorded ?Only the Lonely.? Barbara would also like to congratulate Brooks & Dunn for their stellar year of receiving awards for best Vocal Duo, Single and Video of the Year for their song, "Believe." Ronnie Dunn, one of the song's writers, got an additional trophy for Song of the Year as a writer on "Believe," with co-writer Craig Wiseman. Congratulations to Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and Still Working Music who has four songs written by Ronnie Dunn and Terry McBride, including last year?s No. 1 ?Play Something Country.? Congratulations also to Carrie Underwood who won both the Female Vocalist and Horizon Awards. She sang Roy?s ?Crying? on American Idol. And finally, we also want to applaud Tony Brown (Elvis?s former piano player) for producing both Brooks & Dunn and George Strait, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and has had 51 No. 1 hits. Great Achievement, Tony! Fans, please stay tuned, in an upcoming newsletter we will have an interview with Fred Carter, father of Deanna Carter who sang ?Strawberry Wine.? Fred was very involved with Roy?s life in the 60?s. As always, thank you for your support!
