I?d like to update you on our drive to get a US stamp issued in honor of my husband, Roy Orbison.  News from Washington -  Roy is indeed under consideration for the year 2008!  If Roy is selected, the Postal Service will make the announcement later this year, probably in October.
 
 
 
No guarantees, the process continues and sometimes the Postal Service might wait for an anniversary to issue (like Roys 75th Birthday in 2011)... but we?re really excited and encouraged to know Roy is under
serious consideration.  Over 40,000 stamp subject requests are made each year and they select only a few, annually. Our application for Roy?s case was accepted by the Postal Service back in August 2004, we expect a response in the fall 2007, at the earliest?
 
 
 
So to keep the momentum going, please forward this email to everyone you know!  Write your representatives in Congress and the Senate.  Write the Postmaster General.  Contact your local librarians and museums and have representatives from these important American institutions write to the Postmaster with their support.   Sign the Petition and get all your friends to do the same!! http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?royvote
 
 
 
The news that Roy is under consideration for 2008 means our campaign is having an impact.  The postal service is very aware that people want Roy to be honored with a stamp.  And with your continued help and support ? I believe it is going to happen!
