Papers: Becks' big goodbye
My Chance To Say Goodbye
David Beckham cannot wait to return to Old Trafford and offer an overdue thank-you to the Manchester United fans. Becks never got the chance to say goodbye to his beloved United fan club when he was sold to Real Madrid for £25million 3½ years ago. But on Tuesday March 13 he will play for a European Select XI against his former club to mark the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome and United’s entry into European competition. Becks said: “It will be a special occasion for me. I’ve been back to Old Trafford with England but never to see the United fans. Unless we draw United in the Champions League this will be my only chance to go back there and say goodbye. I never had a chance to do that.”
