Funnyman JIM CARREY's psychological thriller, 'The Number 23,' debuted in second place with $15.1 million. The film tells the story of a man who becomes obsessed with the number 23, and his obsession consequently takes over his life; VIRGINIA MADSEN co-stars as his wife.
Children's fantasy film, 'Bridge to Terabithia,' dropped to third with $13.6 million, while the comedy, 'Reno 911!: Miami,' starring DANNY DeVITO and based on the popular Comedy Central series "Reno 911," premiered in fourth with $10.4 million.
EDDIE MURPHY's 'Norbit' dropped to fifth with $9.7 million.
