Jennifer Lopez is the executive producer of a new MTV show that follows the lives of six dancers.
Jennifer Lopez has a new series that shines a light on aspiring dancers who hope to follow in her footsteps. JENNIFER LOPEZ goes reality as the executive producer of "DanceLife," a new MTV unscripted series that follows six up-and-coming dancers from the sound stage to center stage. Premiering Monday, January 15 at 10:30 p.m., Jennifer will be appearing in two of the eight episodes.
"Everything I've been choosing these past couple of years has to be stuff that I respond to, that I feel I can contribute something to," she says. "I started my career as a dancer, and so I know what that life is, but I realize that a lot of people don't. So that's why I wanted to do [this series], because I lived it."
Jennifer has been keeping on the DL the past several years, after being constantly on the covers of magazines and on entertainment TV shows during her relationship with BEN AFFLECK. She indicates that will change now that she has several projects to promote, including "DanceLife."
"My life had become uncomfortable in the way it was affecting my personal life and the people in it, and so I decided that I needed to take a look at that and my own responsibility in that," she explains. "And I realize there was a way to pull back from it in the way I lived. It was an adjustment and a compromise, but I found a way to do it.
"You don't go out as much. You choose different places to go. You know, if you want to be in those magazines, you can. And if you don't, you don't have to be. And so I chose to pull back on it a little bit, go a little bit underground, work on some things behind the scenes, and work on some passion projects of mine -- my two new albums and my two new movies that are coming out this year -- and produce a little bit more, and that's what I did."
Despite her love for dancing, Jennifer says she only gets back into the studio when she puts out a record. Then she is in the dance studio putting together a show. But other than that, she doesn't go out dancing.
"We are homebodies," she says when asked whether she and hubby MARC ANTHONY hit the clubs "We love music, obviously, and it's a huge part of our lives, and I love to dance. I've always loved to dance, and we enjoy it, but we don't -- we are not big club people, you know, not anymore. I had my days."
