In an exclusive interview, Elizabeth Taylor talks about the glaring paparazzi.
No stranger to the paparazzi, Liz reveals in our exclusive interview how today's starlets can avoid the spotlight. "If you want to be private, don't go out seeking it," ELIZABETH TAYLOR says of the paparazzo's attention. "Home is a very nice place -- you can make it a nice place."
And learning from experience, Elizabeth recommends bringing the party to you. "You can have your own circle of friends and be with them," she says. "You don't have to go out partying every night where the photographers are."
The icon tells our MARY HART that it takes two to tango. "Some of those young kids go out courting the press," she says. "If that's what you want, that's what you're going to get."
Lately though, Elizabeth has been finding company with much friendlier beasts!
In December she swam with sharks. "I had a great time, they were very friendly," she says. And before that she went nose to nose with a black bear! "It was so sweet when he gave me a cold nose kiss," she says, unphased by the experience.
Meanwhile, when she isn't seeking thrills, the famous dame, who's always been known for her love of baubles and bling -- including the 33-1/2 carat Krupp diamond she was given by her ex-husband, the late RICHARD BURTON -- is now keeping busy with her own jewelry collection, House of Taylor.
"My mind goes buzzing off to jewelry all the time," she tells Mary. "I'll see something and think, 'Oh, wouldn't that make an enchanting shape for a necklace or earrings?' And it's just the way my mind is now working, because that's what it's tuned into."
The Tinseltown legend says she even designs pieces right from her own bedroom! "Sometimes I write it down in the middle of the night and then work it out the next morning," she says. "We'll call the boys and say we have a new design, and it just grows and grows."
When the star isn't designing jewelry, she works on fighting the AIDS crisis. "Nothing to this day will stop me or slow me down," she says of the cause.
