The tantrums, the bust-ups and the drunken gropes - it could only be the NME Awards.
And the party was so good that even Noel Gallagher was rumoured to have cracked a smile.

• Peaches Geldof got herself into a typical teenage love tangle ? trying to simultaneously deal with her boyfriend Fred Les and rocker Donny Tourette.

The 17-year-old, who has been linked with the Towers Of London frontman in the past, was making no bones about the fact that she wanted to be with him last night.
She was spotted outside the ladies? loos ? screaming to a friend that she wanted Donny to be with her. When he finally did pay her some attention, Peaches dropped poor Fred like the proverbial sack of potatoes.

But the last laugh was on Peaches when Donny later left the award ceremony with another girl... and Peaches?s 15-year-old sister Pixie!
Hang on a minute what?s a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old doing at a boozy rock party? Fear not. Neither were allowed to enter the awards until they had an over-18 chaperone.
Peaches, for example, was escorted into the show by those upstanding Happy Mondays chaps Shaun Ryder and Bez.
• The View certainly made their mark on the ceremony. Lead singer Kyle Falconer missed his photocall because he was being sick in a room set aside for radio interviews.
Then Pete Reilly threatened to smash photographers? equipment if they took any more photos of him.
Point 1: it?s a photographer?s job to take photographs, Pete (the clue is in the title).
Point 2: if you don?t want your picture taken, get an office job - and don?t play in a rock band.
• Sarah Harding was up to her old tricks. The Girls Aloud stunner presented the Best Band gong to Muse with her bandmate Nicola Roberts ? and was determined to party even while presenting the award.
Sarah said: "Nicola has gone to bed with her boyfriend but I?m up for a mad night. I was in a strict detox clinic in Austria last week so I?m retoxing now." And, boy, did she ? until 6am this morning!
Quick Sarah, get it down your neck - they might run out!
• Unlikely guest of the night goes to Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood. The actor joined the crew of rockers for the awards do, along with Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos.

While you might think he?d be more at home in The Shire, in fact, Elijah is a proper indie fan and even has his own record label.
• The Kings Of Leon have insisted that they will never play Glastonbury ? because they claim the festival damages fields.

The Tennessee boys grew up among vast swathes of farmland in the Deep South and say they could never take part in something as harmful to old-fashioned grass as Glasto.
Drummer Nathan Followill said: "We will never play Glastonbury ? that festival kills all the grass. We come from farms in Tennessee, and that?s something important to us." But they?re playing Reading...
• And finally - it was true! Noel Gallagher did indeed smile - in fact he grinned!
The Oasis star was clearly enjoying the festivities with girlfriend Sara MacDonald and momentarily dropped his serious persona.

He was at the NME Awards to present pals Kasabian with the best live act gong. Perhaps he was thrilled at the prospect of an early night after snubbing the post-awards bash. Smiling? Not partying? Now that?s not like a Gallagher!
