If newspapers are to last into the next generation, we need to continue to be relevant to the next generation.  This means getting students involved in their communities in a way only newspapers can, by teaching them how to check in with their community every day.

The Buffalo News in Education Department develops and creates programs that have a positive impact on student achievement, those that enrich and enhance the curriculum to foster the next generation of workers, voters and citizens.  Each of the programs you see listed on the left serve to:

  • Build new and strengthen existing school~business partnerships.
  • Promote parental involvement.
  • Promote integrated curricula to the New York State Learning Standards that can enhance the quality of instructional practices.
  • Provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Promote literacy and helps to reach reluctant readers.
  • Talk about the world of work.
  • Create a learning network by fostering communication with and between educators
  • Bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
