CULTURELLE® Maintains and Supports Your Immune System.
Boosts immune response
CULTURELLE® boosts localized and overall (also called non-specific) immune response. Localized immune system strength can be measured by the body’s response to immune challenges.
In one 5-week study, healthy volunteers were exposed to “non-self” substances, that is, substances not normally found in the body in order to trigger and evaluate the strength of the immune response. The researchers found that the volunteers who received supplemental LGG, the ”good” bacteria in CULTURELLE® displayed a boost in the immune system. CULTURELLE® has also be shown to enhance the generalized or systemic immune system as well. (When something affects the entire body, it is termed “systemic”.)
The intestinal tract because of its sheer size is our largest immune system organ. Specialized cells that line the innermost walls of the small and large intestines offer localized immune response reactions to bacteria and other substances. But research has also confirmed that localized immune response is related to the immune system’s generalized response as well. Although not completely understood, it appears that as bad bacteria and other substances are neutralized locally in the intestines, they are prevented from being absorbed into the body and causing a negative systemic effect. By contrast, high levels of good bacteria in the intestines seem to boost the production of immune-enhancing substances, like the natural killer (NK) cells and macrophages mentioned earlier. The body’s ability to produce these immune-enhancing substances seems to offer the best protection against bad bacteria, and to keeping the overall immune system strong.
Promotes overall Health and Wellness
LGG® is used in over 40 countries worldwide is popular in Europe and Japan and rapidly growing in popularity in the United States. As the benefits of probiotics are becoming more widely appreciated, more and more probiotic-fortified foods and supplements are elbowing for space in the dairy aisles in supermarkets, or the vitamin/supplement shelves in pharmacies and health food stores.
As many in the US are starting to learn, studies and self-reports worldwide have demonstrated that supplementation with CULTURELLE® helps to:
As US consumers begin to understand and appreciate that some bacteria are actually good for us, more and more will become comfortable with adding probiotics to their daily regimen. And as research continues to demonstrate the benefits of probiotics, taking a daily capsule or sipping a probiotic-fortified drink will become as commonplace as taking a vitamin or mineral supplement. As Dr. Gary Huffnagle, PhD, professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, and a prominent probiotics researcher, suggests, “…we may eventually have research-based minimum daily requirements for probiotics".
