12/20/2007 | Truck deliveries January-November 2007
Total deliveries of trucks from the Volvo Group’s four truck companies through November this year amounted to 209,426, which is an increase of 4%, compared with the year-earlier period. Deliveries from Nissan Diesel only include the period April to November 2007. Excluding Nissan Diesel, deliveries amounted to 177,492 a decrease by 12%, compared with the year-earlier period.

The Volvo Group has initiated a recruitment campaign with the aim of employing 250 engineers globally within the Group's truck-related research and technology development activities. "This is just the beginning of a recruitment period that will last several years, which is attributable to our extensive investments - mainly within environmentally related research and technology development," says Anders Ydergård, Senior Vice President Vehicle Research and Development.

Volvo Powertrain, the company responsible for developing and producing heavy engines, gearboxes and axles for the Volvo Group, has won the Swedish Foundry Association’s 2007 Energy Award. The foundry in Skövde was awarded for rationalisation initiatives leading to major energy savings.

Studies show that lack of attention is the single largest cause of traffic accidents. As part of the Volvo Group’s comprehensive safety efforts, Volvo Technology Transfer is now investing in Seeing Machines, which is a technology developed by an Australian company that detects and warns vehicle drivers in the event of tiredness.
12/11/2007 | Volvo Aero acquires composite company to develop lighter aircraft engines
Volvo Aero has acquired the composite company Applied Composites AB (ACAB) in Linköping, which currently has approximately 70 employees. The aim of the acquisition is to use ACAB and its technology to develop and manufacture aircraft engine components in composite materials, which are significantly lighter than the comparable parts in metal.
12/10/2007 | Volvo signs letter of intent with Indian vehicle manufacturer Eicher
The Volvo Group has signed a letter of intent with the Indian vehicle manufacturer Eicher Motors Limited regarding the establishment of a new Indian joint-venture company. According to the letter of intent, the joint-venture company will hold Eicher Motors Limited’s entire truck and bus operations and the Volvo Group’s Indian sales operations within trucks. “The Indian market for heavy trucks is the fourth largest in the world and it is strategically highly important for the Volvo Group to have a presence and to offer Indian customers products that are specially adapted to their market and needs,” says Volvo CEO Leif Johansson.

12/3/2007 | AB Volvo files for delisting from NASDAQ
AB Volvo files for delisting of the Volvo shares (ADRs) from the NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States. The delisting will be effective as of December 13, 2007. After the delisting has become effective, AB Volvo intends to apply for deregistration of the Class B share from the US Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC.
