How your pet’s food is cooked makes a difference in the quality and quantity of nutrients. As we begin the cooking process for many of our pet foods, we steam-cook our ingredients at an optimal time and temperature. According to Dr. Gary Raiczyk, veterinarian and owner of Healthy Paws Veterinary Center in Texas, "Sharing your home-cooked meal with your best friend isn’t recommended." And when it comes to puppy food specifically: "In general, puppy food has a high caloric
density that is balanced and high-quality," explains Dr. Raiczyk.
"Most high-quality puppy foods contain an increased amount of
protein and carbohydrate. In addition, puppy foods should contain
essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants."
