Six HBO Original films that bring history's great inventors and their creations to life.

In each show, the true story of a visionary genius is told through his relationship with a young person.

From Leonardo to Einstein the stories take place across centuries, each reflecting the intrinsic social, scientific and artistic concerns of the time. The great inventors and their stories will be accessible to today's audience because we experience each from the universal point of view of a young person.

"So well-crafted, thoughtful and intelligent are these films that parents are likely to enjoy them as much as their children." Los Angeles Times

Edison - The Wizard of Light

1893 Menlo Park, New Jersey, Thomas Edison (Ken Walsh) ? the world's greatest Inventor ? is alone in his lab, obsessed by a vision: "What if I could do for the eye what my favorite invention, the phonograph, does for the ear?"

Edison's  prototype, the 'Kinetoscope", is destroyed by Jack (Michal Suchanek) a scruffy twelve year-old desperately fleeing an angry truant officer when he crashes into the Wizard's lab. Edison's first inclination is to throw the brat back to the wolves, but, because he recognizes something of himself in the boy, he covers for Jack and takes him in. Jack becomes a kind of Sorcerer's Apprentice to Edison, sharing the adventure, the late hours and the unrelenting energy of the Wizard of Menlo Park, as they pursue the dream of the motion picture.

Marie Curie - More than Meets the Eye

There are many mysteries in life as the Boudreau sisters, Martine (Nathalie Vansier) (age 11) and Eliane (Colleen Rennison) (age 6), discover when they set out to catch spies during World War 1. Families are fleeing war torn Paris and the girls, rather than go to the country, determine to aid the war effort by ferreting out German spies. A mysterious woman's finger tapping and access to high security public buildings makes her a prime suspect. It turns out to be Madame Curie (Kate Trotter), whose two Nobel prizes have brought her international acclaim. But her comings and goings in and out of Paris are very suspicious and the girls might be accessories to her plot. Madame Curie is, in fact, helping to save lives through her research and Martine and Eliane learn that curiosity is essential to exploring science and life.

Einstein - Light to the Power of 2

Toward the end of a brilliant career in 1954, Albert Einstein (Paul Soles) was arguably as famous a media figure as he was a scholar and physicist at Princeton University. It is hard to imagine a more unlikely pair than the wild-haired academic and young Lannie (Lataye Studwood), a twelve year-old African-American girl, whose mother works on the university cooking and cleaning staff. In Lannie, Albert is reminded of his own early struggles in Switzerland, his quest for intellectual freedom and his growing concern for the future of democracy in his adopted America. Her youth and earnestness renews Albert's spirit and in return Albert gives Lannie an incredible gift: an awareness of her potential.
