Hello!
Well, here it is again, my winter forecast. This is a fun, but rather involved project I have been doing for several years.
I'm not going to explain fully what I do to create this forecast. Let's just say, some of the information in readily available, some of it not. However, everything I use can be found, if you know where to look for it.
Ocean temperatures play a role - this is a La Nina year - so that plays a role. Other information is drawn from the National Storm Prediction Center. The rest of the information is far more esoteric in nature. But, as the Bible says, along with other ancient writings, the natural signs are there to be seen for eyes that are open.
I have also included other significant dates or events in my forecast, which makes it more of a general almanac than anything else. I suspect one day, I'll take the leap and publish a real almanac. Finally, I would like to thank my Grandmother, Ada Pottenger, who introduced all this to me and thanks to all of you who, whether I'm right or wrong, follow along each year. I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Kevin Orpurt
