Make A Difference Stories

February: Anita Bean

Anita Bean is our first "Make A Difference" award winner. Anita is the executive director of ResCare in Terre Haute,IN. Throughout her life she has helped many people inluding being a part of the Bright Hope Riders of the Wabash Valley.

March: Loogootee Elementary School

Loogootee Elementary School is putting forth the effort of knitting 'hats of love' for people all around the world from the homeless to the U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

April: Blankets For Life

Sara Umphries, Emma Creekbaum and Hannah Endress students at West Vigo Middle School are helping 'Make a Difference' with 'Blankets for Life.'

May: Paris FFA

The Paris FFA chapter is cleaning up Illinois. The group of young adults are picking up their fair share of trash along the highways.

June: Terre Haute Community Center

Our June 2007 "Make A Difference" winner is the 14th and Chestnut Community Center in Terre Haute.

July: The Helping Hands

One store run by volnuteers in the Wabash Valley is helping locals afford house hold and every day items for quarters on the dollar.

September: Edwin Ross, Manager of Addiction Services

Every day Edwin Ross comes to work to talk to people. Not only to talk to people, but to assist and to help them with their addictions, at the Hamilton Center.

October: Honey Creek K-9 Unit
This group of Terre Haute teenagers is learning more than reading, writing and arithmatic.

November: Catholic Charities
Poverty is a big issue here in the Wabash Valley, and we want to recognize one group's hard efforts.
