The above information is a summary of the Federal Tax Credit based on IRS interim guidance in Notice 2006-26.  While tax credits are available to contractors for new construction (details can be found by copying and pasting the following address into your Web browser address windows: www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=154658,00.h tml ), this information is for Existing Home Tax Credit for Fenestration (windows, doors and skylights) products only.  Other energy efficient improvements may apply; check the IRS link for more details (http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=1546 57,00.html ). Andersen bears no responsibility in the validation of obtaining the tax credit.  Please consult with a professional tax advisor or the IRS.

This web site contains a list of Andersen® windows, glazed doors and skylights that are ENERGY STAR® qualified.  The IRS has indicated that homeowners may rely on the ENERGY STAR label on windows and skylights to determine if such products qualify for the tax credit for nonbusiness energy property under section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code in a particular climate zone (see IRS Bulletin No. 2006-11 (Notice 2006-26) March 13, 2006).  The same approach should apply to glazed exterior doors as well.  The IRS has not expressly addressed the application of this provision to glazed exterior doors at this time.  Andersen expressly disclaims any responsibility for determining whether a particular window or door qualifies for the tax credit.  Further, Andersen does not intend to and is not providing legal or tax advice on this web site and recommends that purchasers consult their own tax advisor to determine whether the windows and doors they purchase qualify for the tax credit.
