Michael Petersen is Appointed Bekins New President & CEO

October 16, 2007 – Hillside, IL – George Gilbert, Chairman of Bekins Holding Corp., parent company of Bekins Van Lines, LLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Petersen as President & CEO of Bekins Van Lines, LLC after a unanimous vote by Bekins Board of Directors.  He will assume the role upon the retirement of current President & CEO, Larry Marzullo on January 1, 2008.

Mr. Petersen comes to Bekins with a vast amount of executive experience in the relocation industry.  His most recent role was Vice President of Operations for New World Van Lines, based in Chicago, IL where his primary responsibilities were operations, customer service, claims and quality areas.  Prior to his tenure at New World Van Lines, Michael Petersen was with Allied Van Lines for nearly 24 years, where he served in several Vice Presidential and management positions for both their household goods and international divisions, including Vice President, Business Development, Vice President/General Manager of the Household Goods Division and Vice President, International Relocations.  George Gilbert stated, “Michael Petersen’s management experience, expertise in strategic planning, business development, network development and profit and loss management, as well as his knowledge of the industry were the key factors in Bekins Board of Directors decision in appointing him for this top leadership position at Bekins Van Lines.”

Michael Petersen, 53, resides in Naperville, IL with his two daughters.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of Illinois and has served on the Board of Directors for the Household Goods Carrier’s Bureau from 1994 to 2001.  He also served on the Board of Directors for the American Moving & Storage Association from 1995 to 2001.
