These two painters share a passion for the East End and are joining us for their second two-man show. Continuing tradition, the exhibit is an array of studio works, views from their various travels around Europe, and a breath-taking series of paintings from their summer stay at a family farm in Chianti, Tuscany. The two have been exploring the local area this past month, rounding out the show with a number of expressive local landscapes. Please join us in costume to meet the artists and festively celebrate Halloween! Marc Dalessio (b. 1972), one of the gallery?s most established painters, has been coming to us seasonally for about nine years. Visiting us from his home base in Florence, Italy, he brings us yet more riveting studio and figurative works, ranging from his delicate still life ?Fennel and Balsamic Vinegar? to a intricate interior painting titled ?Nude?, both of which are featured in this show. His true passion, which is to be out in nature painting landscapes, is apparent in all of the plein air works. Dalessio?s compilation of scenes takes us from the fields of Tuscany, to the shores of Normandy and then to the comfort of our own backyard, with his depiction of some of the most familiar scenes on the East End. His talent in capturing atmosphere, light and character with subtle strokes reads through his landscapes as well as his figurative and portrait pieces. Trained in traditional painting methods, Dalessio paints only from life. He has been commissioned by a multitude of clients to capture their likeness or those of their loved ones in a painted portrait. Ben Fenske (b. 1978), is back again! His last visit in March brought us a lively variety of Florentine Street Scenes. With an almost sell-out show last October his local landscapes are a hot commodity. He has covered some major ground this past month with scenes from Shelter Island?s Mashomack Preserve, to Cook?s Lane in Bridgehampton to one of our personal favorites ?Main Street, Sag Harbor?. Ben Fenske has quite a collection of work from this summer?s stay in Chianti including the striking piece ?Italian Kitchen?, a dark interior colored with greens and blues this painting is an example of Fenske?s growing interest in Impressionism. His distinctive stroke and keen sense of tonal values make for a playful yet calculated style. Ben Fenske is also available for portrait and landscapes commissions. Information on Commissions by Dalessio or Fenske are available upon request, please contact the gallery. The exhibit will hang through November 19th, 2007.
