Our editors have long-standing and distinguished careers in their respective fields. Some recent achievements are highlighted in this section.

Hans Bloemendal, one of the editors of the European Journal of Cell Biology, is considered to be one of the most prominent Dutch biochemists. In recognition of his distinguished career, the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences has decided to award a medal with his name to scientists of outstanding international reputation, thus honouring not only their achievements, but also those of Hans Bloemendal. The first Bloemendal medal has been awarded October 2007 to Peter Agre, Nobel prize winner 2003.

 

 

On August 13, 2007, Neural Networks Founding Editor Dr. Stephen Grossberg was presented a plaque in honor of his 20 years of service to the journal and the neural networks community. The plaque was presented by Publisher Sweitze Roffel at the conclusion of Dr. Grossberg's plenary speech, "20 Years of Neural Networks: A Promising Start, A Brilliant Future" at the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks in Orlando, Florida, USA.

 

Elsevier welcomes William D. Steers, M.D., F.A.C.S. as Editor of The Journal of Urology®, the official journal of the American Urological Association (AUA).  Dr. Steers replaces former Editor Martin I. Resnick, M.D., who died earlier this year.  Dr. Steers was appointed by the AUA and assumed editorship of The Journal on November 1, 2007.

Dr. Steers is the Hovey Dabney Professor of Urology and chair of the Department of Urology at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, and a Trustee on the American Board of Urology. Prior to assuming the editorship of The Journal, he served as one of The Journal’s associate editors.
