It's back!
Save It or Sink It, our illustrious (okay, perhaps only my mom has heard of it) opportunity for you to shape pop culture, has returned for midseason!
Darren Star's Cashmere Mafia, 2008's first network newbie, just premiered on ABC, so now the masses (not to mention Lucy Liu and ABC prez Steve McPherson) are dying to know: What did you think?
Below, you can let the world (and my mom) know whether you deem this series worthy by voting to Save It or Sink It. You also can use the Comments section below to sway the masses to see this series or skip it when Cashmere moves to Wednesdays at 10 this week. This sounding board is your soapbox!
I'll start the convo off by saying I think Cashmere Mafia is a pretty daft dramedy and (along with NBC's forthcoming Lipstick Jungle) an obvious attempt to clone Sex and the City in the year it returns as a flick.
My biggest issue? Aside from a few bright moments courtesy of Liu and Bonnie Somerville, the characters and storylines just aren't very enticing or likable.
Still, gotta admit, with better shows off the air (and the SATC flick still months away), I'm hoping Cashmere sticks around to serve its real purpose: keeping us fluffy and slightly more warm during winter's TV chill.
My vote: Save it (for now).
Agree? Disagree? Do yo' thang below....
It's happened. I've officially gone off my rocker.
I'm sure that's what many of you will say after spying the latest Vine show, which has a new feature: Frakked-Up Fairy Tales (complete with children's book illustrations by moi). And I have to agree.
But what can I say? I had a blast doing it. I know many of you have been missing the sorts of stories for which I can't name names (we used to call 'em Hump Day Stumpers), so this is my new frakked-up version.
It's totally ridiculous, but I hope you'll press Play and play along anyway. These are three good stories about three TV people whom you'd never ever guess to be doing such things!
Have fun storming the castle, and good luck on your quest for the right answer in the Comments section below. I have faith in you!
You've heard me blather on and on about this silly little (awesome and beloved) show called Friday Night Lights. Some of you listened; some of you snerked. And since the show returns tomorrow, and since there's very little else on right now, I figure this is just about the most perfect time to try and convert you all.
So, since you're sick of my incessant FNL yammering, I'm going to step aside and let my partner in crime Jennifer Godwin share with you a few reasons to watch. She's a spankin'-new convert who's just seen the Lights....halle-freaking-lujah.
She's a peach.
I'm not usually one to use that word, but honestly, it just applies so well to the lovely (inside and out) Lauren Stamile that I can't help myself!
Grey's Anatomy finally returns one week from tonight (Thursday, Jan. 10), for what will be the last episode we'll see until that ugly thing that starts with the letter S is resolved.
As I've hinted at in previous chats, this is a doozy of an ep, with something major going down for nearly every character, but in particular Bailey, Lexie and the Mer-Der-Rose love triangle. From what I'm hearing, Derek makes a...wait for it...decision regarding Meredith. Gaa!
So, who is this lovely Lauren, and what does she know and think about Rose and McDreamy? I sat down with her to get the goods, and I must warn you, I found her remarkably unhateable (sorry, Mer!) and also found her real-life connection to her storyline adorable. Keep reading to see what she revealed!
What was the very best TV show in all of 2007?
This is the über-question we are tackling today! (And for very good reason.)
In the video clip above, you can see me running down my picks for the top 10 shows of the year. (Be warned: I think some of you are gonna be mighty pissed. But others of you should be happy.)
More important, though, I am dying to know what you think was the best TV show in all of 2007. Yes, I say show (note the lack of an "s" there), 'cause you can only pick one.
I'm well aware this is going to be a challenge, but I want you to dig deep, listen to your heart and pick one series from the list of 100 shows below. (If your show isn't represented, feel free to email me at tvdiva@eonline.com with your fave. Your write-ins are most definitely welcome!)
This über-ranking of shows will help us here in WWK Central determine what we should be covering in the new year (when the bad thing ends), so please do take a moment to vote.
Want more coverage of your cult hit? Dream of visits to the Vine show by a star you love? Make sure your fave series does well in this poll, because the results will be our boss in 2008.
If you want to spread the love to more than one show, please feel free to use the Comments section below as your friends, or here's a thought: Get a friend of yours to vote for you! (It's not cheating, just smart.)

Happy (almost) 2008, y’all!
As you prepare to whoop it up, party like a pop star and/or try your darnedest to keep your eyes open long enough to watch the ball drop, I figure it's a good time to tackle the question many of you have been in a dither about and asking for weeks now:
Will there be anything to watch in the cold and dreary winter of 2008?!
See, in case you hadn’t heard, there is a writers’ strike. And yes, many of the programs we know and love will probably be off the air for quite a while longer. But before you do something crazy like shut off your TV and pick up a book (cringe), you should know there are plenty of shows coming out in the next few months to keep your keister firmly planted on that couch!
Here, in ascending order, are our picks for the 21 most watchable new and returning series slated to come out this winter and early spring. (You can also get the full rundown listed by premiere date.) Drink 'em in!
Okay, technically we don't have an exact premiere date for Battlestar, just a month (March), but hot damn, Grace Park is gorgeous and we couldn't resist putting her up there. Forgive us?
While you're deciding, go ahead and check out the premiere dates below and start synching your Outlook Calendars. Even with the strike, it's gonna be pretty busy. (Hello, reality!)
Which shows are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the Comments!
Before I bow out for the holidays and head down to Brasil to celebrate a Feliz Ano Novo in São Paulo, I wanted to share this music video with you guys.
Harold Perrineau (Lost's Michael) wrote and performed the song for the troops overseas and the video was directed by Daniel Dae Kim (Lost's Jin). It's a damn fine song and video, and a good reminder of how many kids are still overseas right now.
All proceeds from the song go to support the Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury. Press play above to check it out, and keep your eyes peeled for a few notable guest stars: Harold's wife, Brittany, Jeremy Renner, Harold's Oz costar Lauren Vélez (now LaGuerta on Dexter) and last but not least, the third raftie, Josh Holloway! (And bonus points for you who find Daniel.)
I hope you'll enjoy it, and if you do, please help spread the word. And most of all, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year! Love, KDS
Happy holidays, tuberinos! In grand holiday tradition, Santy Kristin has been making a list of the nicest and naughtiest TV folks of the year.
And not only do I have this list, I have damning footage as well!
Check out the video above for such memorable 2007 moments as Josh Holloway revealing his foot fetish (squee!), Jamie Bamber fondling my bosoms, Rainn Wilson pulling full-on divatude, John Stamos getting personal about undergarments (blush) and so much more.
Once you've watched, vote below on who should get a ginormous gift and who should get a lump of coal—or a straitjacket, as the case may be.
Ever since the sudden, shocking cancellations of The 4400 and Dead Zone were announced earlier this week, you all have sent me a flood of emails asking if there's the possibility of any special series-finale episodes or some sort of mini-series wrapups to make up for the abrupt, heart-wrenching loss of these faves.
I've done a little digging, and sadly, there's a small-screen Scrooge afoot. With a minimum of waffling and double-talk—which is rare in Hollywood, let me tell you—I just found out that dead actually means dead for these two shows. An inside source at the network tells me, "What has already aired is all you'll see of The Dead Zone or The 4400 on USA Network." (Oh, the noive!)
Still, there is a smidge of off-net hope. There's a slim chance the shows could be picked up by some other network. Any suggestions for where they might fit or thoughts on why these guys should be given a second chance? Post in the Comments section. (Plus, just for kicks, take our USA Network poll below.)
Farewell for now, Billy Campbell. You were the hottest messianic type on TV, and you will be missed, but here's hoping you can resurrect yourself and come back soon!
